Guwahati: The blood-stained clothes that Samim Ahmed was wearing and had disposed of before fleeing the scene of a fatal road accident that claimed three lives on April 26 were recovered by the police on Friday. The clothes were found near the accident spot at Mathaghari in Guwahati, according to police officials.
The mobile phone of one of the deceased women, Puja Saha, was also recovered from the same location.
Samim Ahmed, along with Puja Saha of Goalpara district, Aksangsha Saikia of Charadeo, and Armina Ahmed of Bongaigaon district, had consumed alcohol worth Rs 19,000 at a bar-cum-restaurant in Bhangagarh from 11 pm on Saturday until 3 am on Sunday. The accident occurred at 4:02 am, resulting in the deaths of the three women.
Police stated that Samim fled the accident spot immediately after the crash. He initially went to Shillong and then to Dibrugarh, where police apprehended him on Monday. Samim is currently in police custody.
Based on his statements, police on Friday recovered the clothes soaked in Samim's blood, which he had disposed of in a drain about 100-200 meters away from the accident site. Additionally, police recovered a mobile phone belonging to Puja Saha.
Later, police took Samim to Shillong for further investigation.
