The accused have been identified as Rizwan Hasan Mondal, who served as a BLO, and his associate Sagar Gyne. Their arrest came after dismembered body parts belonging to 30-year-old Nasir Ali were discovered in a canal located in the Baduria area of North 24 Parganas district. A police officer confirmed the arrests on Saturday, noting the grim find was made on Friday.
Preliminary investigations reveal a disturbing sequence of events. Police stated that Mondal had developed an extramarital relationship with Ali's wife. To lure Ali, Mondal allegedly asked him to meet at a secluded spot late on Monday evening. The pretext given was to discuss matters related to the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in West Bengal.

Ali was reported missing since Monday night, prompting his family to file a police complaint the following day. Authorities swiftly acted by tracking Mondal's phone calls and movements, which led them to the canal where the body parts were located.
