In a shocking incident that has sent ripples through Samastipur district, a young Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) booth president was brutally gunned down late Wednesday evening. The murder has triggered immediate administrative action, including the suspension of a police station in-charge and the arrest of two suspects.
Bike-Borne Assailants Target Young BJP Leader
The victim has been identified as Rupak Sahni (23), who served as the BJP booth president in the Khanpur area. According to police reports, Sahni was returning to his home from his cyber café when the attack occurred. Bike-borne assailants opened fire on him just about 300 metres from his residence.
Locals, hearing the gunshots, rushed to the scene and immediately took the critically injured Sahni to the nearest Community Health Centre (CHC). Unfortunately, the doctors at the CHC could do little and declared him brought dead. Rupak Sahni was not just a party worker; he was also a former president of the Shadipur panchayat and the brother of Deepak Sahni, the BJP's district IT cell convenor.
Swift Police Action and Suspension of SHO
The murder prompted a swift response from senior police officials. Samastipur Superintendent of Police (SP) Arvind Pratap Singh personally visited the crime scene on Thursday to review the situation and the progress of the investigation.
Dissatisfied with the initial handling of the probe by the local police, SP Singh took stringent disciplinary action. He ordered the immediate suspension of the Khanpur Police Station House Officer (SHO). "No laxity in crime control will be tolerated," Singh stated emphatically, sending a clear message about accountability.
Long-Standing Feud Culminates in Violence
The police investigation quickly pointed towards a personal motive behind the killing. SP Arvind Pratap Singh revealed that the murder was the violent culmination of a long-standing personal feud between Rupak Sahni and another party. It was disclosed that an FIR related to this dispute had been lodged earlier, indicating prior tensions.
"The conflict escalated into violence on Wednesday, leading to the shooting," the SP explained. Following the incident, police teams acted rapidly and arrested two named accused in connection with the case.
"They are being interrogated to uncover the full conspiracy and identify others involved. Simultaneously, raids are being conducted to apprehend the absconding accused," added Singh, outlining the next steps in the investigation.
Community in Shock, Probe Intensifies
The killing of a young political figure in such a brazen manner has left the Khanpur area in a state of shock and tension. The swift suspension of the SHO underscores the administrative pressure to solve the case and deliver justice. As the police continue their interrogation and raids, the focus remains on unraveling the complete network behind the attack and ensuring all perpetrators are brought to book.
