Police Team Assaulted During Raid in Supaul Village
A police team from Ratanpura police station, led by SHO Raju Kumar, faced a violent attack on Sunday night while attempting to arrest an alleged liquor smuggler. The incident occurred in Piprahi village within the Supaul district.
The officers had come to apprehend Ramratan Rai. However, upon his arrest, family members of the accused and other unidentified individuals launched a brutal assault on the police party. The attackers used sticks, causing injuries to several officers, including SHO Raju Kumar himself.
In the ensuing chaos, the arrested man, Ramratan Rai, managed to escape through a back door with help from the assailants. Following the incident, the police registered a formal FIR against Rai, his family members, and the other attackers.
Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the assault on the police team. Meanwhile, the family of Ramratan Rai has filed a counter-complaint, accusing the police of assaulting women during the operation. Authorities are investigating both claims.
Daring Daylight Robbery in Muzaffarpur
In a separate incident in Muzaffarpur, motorcycle-borne criminals executed a bold robbery on Monday. They targeted a Customer Service Point (CSP) centre near Madwan Chowk in the Bariyarpur police station area.
The thieves made off with a sum of Rs 2 lakh. After being alerted, DSP (East)-II Manoj Kumar Singh arrived at the scene with a team to begin the investigation.
Police have launched a search operation to apprehend the robbers and are meticulously scanning nearby CCTV footage to identify the accused involved in this daylight heist.
Student Killed in Tragic Road Accident
A young student lost his life in a tragic road accident in Muzaffarpur. The victim, identified as 19-year-old Saurabh Kumar from Vasdeva village, was riding his bike on NH-722 near Ara Mile under the Karja police station area.
A sand-laden truck hit his motorcycle from behind. The impact was severe, and Saurabh was killed on the spot. Showing no remorse, the truck driver fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.
Police have seized the truck and sent the body to SKMCH for a postmortem examination. Additional SHO Krishna Kant Mishra stated that raids are being conducted to track down and arrest the absconding driver responsible for the fatal crash.
Purnia Man Succumbs to Assault Injuries
In a case of brutal violence in Purnia, a 45-year-old man named Noor Alam died on Monday from injuries sustained in an assault. The attack occurred on December 18 in Mirzapur Chimni Bazar, falling under the Sadar police station area.
Reports indicate that miscreants brutally beat Alam with sticks and iron rods, allegedly over a suspected land dispute. His wife was also injured when she tried to intervene and save her husband.
Noor Alam was initially treated at GMCH Purnia and later shifted to a hospital in Siliguri, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. His father has named eight accused individuals in the FIR filed in this case. Police confirmed that all the accused are currently absconding, and raids are underway to arrest them.
