In a dramatic late-night incident in Bhopal, a young SUV driver crashed his vehicle into a road divider while attempting to flee from police. The accident occurred in the Gandhi Nagar area after officers received a tip-off about illegal liquor transportation.
Police Receive Tip-Off About Illegal Liquor
Police teams were conducting routine night patrolling when they got specific information. A white SUV loaded with illegal liquor was reportedly heading towards Bhopal via Byawra Road and Gandhi Nagar. Acting swiftly on this intelligence, officers immediately set up barricades in the area to intercept the suspect vehicle.
Dramatic Chase and Crash
The white SUV was spotted near Holy Family School around midnight. Police signaled the driver to stop for inspection. Instead of complying, the driver suddenly accelerated and attempted to escape the scene.
A police FRV (Fast Response Vehicle) immediately gave chase. During the pursuit, the SUV driver lost control of his vehicle on Airport Road. The speeding SUV crashed violently into a road divider, causing significant damage to the vehicle.
As soon as the SUV came to a stop, the driver jumped out and tried to flee on foot. Police officers quickly surrounded him and made the arrest within moments.
Suspect Identified and Liquor Recovered
During interrogation, the arrested driver identified himself as Subhash Kushwah. The 21-year-old resident of Pratap Nagar, Banganga, could not provide valid documents for the liquor found in his vehicle.
A thorough search of the damaged SUV revealed 15 cartons of country-made illegal liquor. Police immediately seized the entire consignment as evidence.
Case Registered Under Excise Act
Police have registered a formal case against Kushwah under the Excise Act. The charges relate to illegal transportation and possession of liquor without proper documentation.
The damaged SUV has been impounded as part of the investigation. Police officials confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody while further investigations continue.
