A devastating road accident in Bhopal on Wednesday evening resulted in the death of an eight-year-old boy and left his younger brother critically injured. The incident, a hit-and-run case involving a speeding car, has sent shockwaves through the Saket Nagar locality.

The tragedy unfolded around 5 pm near the Bhimsen Joshi Multi Complex in Saket Nagar, under the jurisdiction of the Bag Sewania police station. Shivam Bansal, aged 8, was riding a bicycle with his 5-year-old brother, Vikas Bansal, seated with him. According to preliminary police reports, a car allegedly driving at high speed rammed into their bicycle. The impact was so severe that both children were thrown onto the road, sustaining grave injuries.
The car driver, in a subsequent turn of events, took the injured boys to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhopal for urgent medical attention. After examination, doctors declared Shivam dead. His younger brother, Vikas, who suffered critical injuries, remains under treatment at the hospital.

The children's father, Ram Vishal Bansal (32), a native of JC Nagar in Sagar district, was away at work when the accident occurred. He currently lives with his family in a rented house in Saket Nagar and works in the private sector. He was informed by his landlord and rushed to AIIMS, only to receive the heartbreaking news of his elder son's demise.
Acting on a formal complaint lodged by the grieving father, the Bag Sewania police have registered a case against the car driver. The police have sent Shivam's body for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
