According to police reports, the 19-year-old prime accused, a Class 12 student, was acquainted with the survivor's friend and frequently visited her school to meet her. He later lured her to a deserted location in Khanugaon, using an SUV owned by the co-accused.
During the assault, the prime accused allegedly raped the survivor inside the vehicle, while the 21-year-old co-accused stood outside and reportedly recorded the incident on his mobile phone. This recording was later used to blackmail and extort the girl, adding to her trauma.
Police Action and Ongoing Investigation
Fed up with the constant harassment, the girl courageously reported the matter to the police. The main accused was arrested on February 3. In a separate incident, when he was produced before the court, lawyers assaulted him, highlighting the public outrage over the case.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Ankita Khatarkar stated that while the cars involved have been seized, police are yet to recover the mobile phone on which the alleged obscene video was recorded. This remains a critical piece of evidence in the investigation.
