Shocking Footpath Murder Rocks Bhopal
A 27-year-old man allegedly bludgeoned a 50-year-old man to death while he slept on a footpath in Bhopal's Gautam Nagar area early Wednesday morning. The brutal attack occurred hours after the accused had a breakup with his girlfriend on his birthday.
Birthday Celebration Turns Deadly
Kartik Rathore, a resident of Teela Jamalpura, had been out celebrating his birthday with friends on Tuesday night. According to Gautam Nagar SHO Mahendra Singh Thakur, Kartik was returning home around 2 am when he had a heated telephone argument with his girlfriend who lives in Indore. The confrontation ended with their relationship terminating.
Agitated and upset, Kartik noticed Suresh Kushwah, 50, sitting on the footpath in front of a closed shop at Awadoo Complex near DIG Bungalow Square. The initial interaction seemed minor - Kartik asked the older man for a bidi, but Suresh refused. As Kartik began walking away, the situation escalated dramatically when Suresh allegedly spat gutkha that landed on Kartik's shoe.
The Fatal Return
After a brief altercation, Kartik left the spot. However, he returned around 5:15 am and found Suresh sleeping on the pavement. In a fit of rage, Kartik picked up a heavy stone lying nearby and smashed the sleeping man's head three times before fleeing the scene.
The body of Suresh Kushwah, who was a resident of Indira Sahayta Nagar, was discovered in the morning by passersby. What began as a simple refusal for a bidi had turned into a fatal confrontation.
