Bhojpur Police Make Swift Arrests in Minor Gang Rape Case
In a prompt response to a heinous crime, the Bhojpur police have arrested all five individuals accused of gang-raping a minor girl on Sunday night. The accused, whose ages range from 18 to 19 years, were taken into custody following an intensive investigation that unfolded over a matter of hours.
Details of the Incident and Police Action
Bhojpur Superintendent of Police, Raj, addressed reporters on Monday, providing a detailed account of the events. The incident occurred on Sunday evening when the minor girl stepped out of her home around 8:30 PM to attend to nature's call. It was during this time that she was allegedly subjected to the gang rape.
Upon receiving information about the crime, police personnel immediately rushed to the scene and initiated a thorough investigation. Based on the girl's statement, a First Information Report (FIR) was promptly registered. The charges have been filed under Section 70(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 4/6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, highlighting the severity of the offense involving a minor.
Formation of SIT and Arrests
To ensure a swift resolution, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted, headed by the Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO). This team acted decisively on technical inputs and conducted intensive raids at all suspected hideouts of the accused.
The police efforts culminated in the arrest of all five accused within just seven hours of the incident, demonstrating a high level of efficiency and commitment to justice. The arrested individuals have been identified as:
