Midnight Livestock Heist in Bengaluru Village Leaves Family in Shock
In a brazen act of theft that has left a rural family reeling, a gang of four individuals executed a midnight raid on a shed in Gundur village near Bengaluru, making off with a haul of livestock. The incident, which occurred in the early hours of March 5, involved the theft of six sheep, one goat, and four chickens, all captured on a CCTV camera that has provided crucial evidence for the ongoing police investigation.
Details of the Theft and Family's Discovery
According to a formal complaint filed by Sheshadri, the head of the affected family, the animals and birds had been securely locked inside the shed on the evening of March 4. The family had taken standard precautions, ensuring the compound gate was firmly locked before retiring for the night, expecting their livestock to be safe until morning.
However, in a shocking turn of events, the family awoke to discover that several of their animals were missing from the shed. Sheshadri reported to the Avalahalli police that around 1:30 AM, four unidentified persons arrived at the property in a mini goods vehicle. The thieves quickly broke into the shed and loaded the stolen livestock—comprising the six sheep, the single goat, and the four chickens—into their vehicle before fleeing the scene.
Police Response and Investigation Status
The Avalahalli police have registered a case based on the complaint and are actively investigating the theft. The CCTV footage, which clearly captured the gang and their vehicle, is expected to play a pivotal role in identifying and apprehending the suspects. This incident highlights growing concerns about rural security and livestock theft in the region, prompting calls for increased vigilance among villagers.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the theft or the suspects to come forward, as they work to recover the stolen animals and bring the perpetrators to justice. The family, meanwhile, is coping with the emotional and financial impact of losing their valuable livestock in such a sudden and distressing manner.
