Bengaluru Police Arrest Biker for Dagger Threat in Road Rage

Police in Bengaluru have arrested a man who threatened a family with a dagger during a frightening road rage incident. The arrest came after dashcam video clearly showed the aggressive confrontation.

Details of the Arrest and Incident

The Bengaluru police took swift action on Sunday, apprehending a 25-year-old individual. This person has been identified as Sayed Arbaz Khan, who lives in RT Nagar and works at a fish shop. The alarming event unfolded on Friday near the Nexus Shantiniketan mall in Whitefield.

How the Incident Unfolded

According to the First Information Report filed by the Kadugodi police, Khan was riding his motorcycle when he allegedly blocked the path of a car. He then proceeded to abuse the driver, pull out a dagger, and threaten everyone inside the vehicle before speeding away from the scene.

The dashcam footage from the complainant's car provided crucial evidence. It captured Khan getting off his two-wheeler following an argument over a traffic issue. The video shows him brandishing the weapon in a menacing manner, clearly intending to intimidate the family.

Police Investigation and Charges

Officers were able to track down the accused because the scooter's registration number was visible in the car's dashboard camera recording. The vehicle was registered in Khan's name, which helped police locate him quickly.

The police have booked Khan under relevant sections of the Arms Act. Additionally, they have charged him under sections 126 for wrongful restraint, 351 for criminal intimidation, and 352 for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Previous Criminal Record

Investigations revealed that Khan already had four cases against him prior to this incident. His previous charges include two cases for causing injury, one for conspiracy to commit dacoity, and one for bike theft in Bengaluru. This history suggests a pattern of unlawful behavior.

The arrest highlights the effectiveness of dashcam technology in providing evidence for road rage cases. It also underscores the importance of reporting such incidents to authorities promptly. Bengaluru police have demonstrated their commitment to taking strong action against those who endanger public safety on the roads.
