The victim, identified as Sadashiva Ingalagavi, a 49-year-old constable attached to the Bangalore Development Authority's Special Task Force, was returning from the Banaswadi sub-registrar's office. While on 1st Main Road in Kalyan Nagar, he stopped to take a phone call. Suddenly, without warning, a Rottweiler dog—reportedly neither leashed nor muzzled—lunged at him from behind and viciously bit his right leg.
Ingalagavi described the terrifying moments: "I kicked the dog and cried for help. It took a couple of minutes before the owner restrained it." The attack was unprovoked and left the constable in severe pain, requiring immediate medical attention.

Hoysala patrol personnel swiftly arrived at the scene and rushed the injured constable to a nearby hospital for treatment.
