A late-night joyride turned fatal in Bengaluru, claiming the lives of two young men and leaving another injured after their speeding car veered off the road and plunged into a stormwater drain. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday near Sadahalli Gate, sending shockwaves through the local community.
A Fatal Plunge into Darkness
The accident took place around 2:30 AM on Sunday, March 30, 2025. According to preliminary reports from the Kothanur police, the victims were returning from a party. The car, a white Hyundai Venue, was traveling at high speed along the road near Sadahalli Gate when the driver lost control.
The vehicle crashed through the roadside barrier before falling into a deep stormwater drain. The impact was severe, and the car was heavily damaged by the force of the fall into the concrete drain.
Victims Identified, Rescue Operation Launched
The two deceased have been identified as Nithin Gowda (23) and Manoj (24). Both were residents of Bengaluru. The injured survivor, Anil (23), was rushed to a nearby private hospital for treatment. He is currently reported to be out of danger.
Upon receiving information, police and emergency services rushed to the spot. A challenging rescue operation was launched to extract the young men from the mangled vehicle inside the drain. The bodies of Nithin and Manoj were retrieved and sent for post-mortem examination.

The Kothanur police have registered a case and are investigating the exact circumstances that led to the crash. Initial findings point towards overspeeding as the primary cause of the accident.
