Bank of Baroda Burglary Attempt Thwarted in Ankola
In a bold but unsuccessful break-in, unidentified criminals targeted the Bank of Baroda branch in Sunksal village, Ankola taluk. The incident occurred on Sunday night when the burglars drilled through the rear toilet wall of the bank building.
Detailed Break-In Attempt
The miscreants meticulously bored a hole through the toilet wall, which is situated along National Highway 63. They entered the bank premises under cover of darkness. Once inside, they attempted to breach the reinforced wall of the strong room where cash and valuables are stored.
However, their plan hit a major obstacle. The high-security barrier of the strong room proved too tough to penetrate. This failure forced the burglars to abandon their operation. They fled the scene without taking any cash or items.
Police Response and Investigation
The burglary attempt came to light early on Monday morning. Senior police officials swiftly responded to the scene. Ankola circle inspector Chandrashekhar Mathapati led the initial response team.
Police deployed more than fifteen personnel to secure the area. Forensic experts and sniffer dogs joined the investigation to gather crucial evidence. The team worked meticulously to track the suspects and understand the burglary method.

Uttara Kannada Superintendent of Police Deepan MN visited the location personally. He oversaw the investigation to ensure thorough evidence collection. The police have registered a case at Ankola police station and continue their probe.
