In a brazen late-night robbery, a gang of five armed assailants targeted a residence in Salepur village under the Sonai police station of Cachar district, Assam, on Sunday night. The criminals looted cash and gold ornaments after tying up a woman and her daughter-in-law, leaving the family traumatized and local authorities scrambling for clues.
Details of the Terrifying Incident
Police sources indicate that the incident unfolded around 2 am at the home of Anjali Nath. The robbers allegedly broke open the grill gate before gaining entry by unlocking the main door, demonstrating a calculated approach to the break-in.
According to statements from family members, the assailants were armed with firearms and sharp weapons. They threatened the residents, effectively preventing them from raising any alarm during the ordeal.
Sequence of the Robbery
The gang first targeted Anjali Nath, forcibly snatching the gold ornaments she was wearing. They then proceeded to the room of her daughter-in-law, Mayuri. There, they tied her hands and violently removed her jewellery, adding to the family's distress.
Not content with the personal loot, the miscreants ransacked almirahs within the house, making off with additional cash and gold ornaments. The victims have alleged that the robbery was thorough and left the home in disarray.
