AGRA: In a shocking incident that has sent tremors through the prestigious Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) campus, a computer science teacher was brutally murdered in cold blood on Wednesday evening. The victim, identified as Rau Danish Ali, was gunned down during his routine walk, with chilling CCTV footage capturing the assailants' brazen attack.
The Chilling CCTV Evidence
The accessed video footage paints a horrifying picture of the crime. It shows the attackers not only firing at the teacher but also lingering at the spot to ensure he did not survive. After Ali collapsed on the busy university road near the Maulana Azad Library canteen, one shooter stood beside him for several seconds. The second assailant briefly ran away, only to return and fire again at point-blank range. The duo then fled the scene on a two-wheeler.
In the footage, at least six gunshots can be heard. Panic-stricken people near Kennedy Hall are seen scattering for safety as the attack unfolded around 9 PM. A witness, Imran, one of Ali's colleagues who was present, reported that one attacker issued a sinister warning just before opening fire: “You don’t know me yet, now you will.”
Details of the Attack and Investigation
Police stated that the attackers approached Ali and his two colleagues from behind on a scooter. They threatened the group with pistols and opened fire almost immediately. While Ali's companions managed to run for cover, he was hit and collapsed on the road.
Investigators confirmed that 6–7 rounds were fired from close range. A medical examination revealed that four bullets struck Ali in the head and one in his arm. He was rushed to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College by his brother and others but was declared dead by doctors.
An FIR has been registered at the Civil Lines police station by Ali's brother, Dr. Rau Faraz, under sections 103(1) (murder) and 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Senior Superintendent of Police Neeraj Kumar Jadaun said multiple police teams are working on the case. “CDRs and other technical evidence have been collected. The motive is not clear yet, and all angles are being examined. Those responsible will be arrested soon,” he assured.
