Alleged Child Molester Apprehended in Mathura
In a significant development, Mathura Police has arrested a 24-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting two girls, one of whom is a minor. The accused, identified as Shyam alias Harsh, was taken into custody near the Kadamb Vihar Cut area at approximately 2 pm on Friday.
Father's Complaint Leads to Swift Action
The arrest came just three days after the girls' father submitted a formal written complaint to the police on November 4. In his complaint, the father alleged that the accused had confronted his daughters, threatened them, and molested them. A video related to the alleged incident had also surfaced on social media platforms, adding to the gravity of the situation.
Acting promptly on the father's complaint, the Mathura Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) under several stringent sections of the law. The charges invoked include:
- Sections 74 (Assault), 127(1) (Wrongful Confinement), 115(2) (Voluntarily Causing Hurt), 351(2) (Criminal Intimidation), and 79 (Insult the Modesty of a Woman) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
- Sections 7/8 of the POCSO Act, a crucial legislation designed to protect children from sexual offenses.
Accused Sent to Jail as Investigation Continues
Talking to the media, the area Station House Officer (SHO) confirmed that the accused was evading arrest and was subsequently nabbed by a dedicated police team. "We have sent him to jail," the SHO stated, confirming the judicial custody of the accused.
The SHO further revealed that the accused was known to both girls. He emphasized that a further investigation is currently underway to uncover all aspects of this disturbing case and ensure justice is served.
This arrest highlights the police's responsiveness to serious complaints involving the safety of women and children, especially under the protective umbrella of the POCSO Act.
