Ahmedabad Store Hit by Employee Theft: Six Smartphones Worth ₹1.31 Lakh Stolen
Police in Ahmedabad's Navrangpura area have registered a theft case following a brazen incident at a store on Commerce College Road. Two recently hired employees stand accused of stealing six smartphones with a total value of ₹1,31,255.
The Complaint and Sequence of Events
A company enforcement officer filed the formal complaint on Sunday. According to the First Information Report, the store hired one individual as a sorting executive on November 24. Just four days later, this employee brought another person to the store for similar sorting work. Management hired the second person on the same day.
Both new hires then failed to report for work starting the very next day. Company officials made repeated attempts to contact them, but the employees did not respond to any calls.
The Discovery and CCTV Evidence
The store team discovered the theft during a routine inventory check on November 29. They found six smartphones missing from the premises. A review of the closed-circuit television footage provided crucial evidence.
The CCTV allegedly shows one of the accused employees concealing mobile phones inside his jacket. The footage also reportedly captures the second employee facilitating the theft by helping his accomplice leave the store premises unnoticed.
The stolen inventory included both premium and mid-range smartphone models. The company gathered all necessary purchase bills and documentation before approaching the police with the complaint.
Police Investigation Underway
Despite initial efforts by the company to locate the accused, they could not be traced. This prompted the formal police complaint. Navrangpura police have now taken up the investigation.
Authorities are currently analyzing the CCTV footage in detail. Their primary objectives are to identify and trace the accused individuals and to recover the stolen mobile devices. The case remains active as police work to solve this employee-led theft.
