Violent Clash Outside Ahmedabad School Injures Teenager
A long-standing dispute allegedly erupted into violence outside National School in Ghatlodia, Ahmedabad on Monday. The incident left a 15-year-old Class 10 student injured and revived memories of a fatal school assault from September 2025.
Attack Captured on CCTV
The injured student was rushed to a hospital for treatment. Police confirmed that CCTV footage captured the assault, which occurred approximately 100 meters from the school gate. According to reports, the victim was beaten with sticks and rods. A kada was also used to strike his head.
A relative of the victim claimed that a knife was involved in the attack. They stated that a friend of the victim intervened, potentially saving his life. Two other Class 10 students sustained injuries during the brawl.
Root Cause Traced to Previous Altercation
Police preliminary investigation points to a fight that happened around three months ago as the trigger for Monday's violence. In that earlier incident, eight juveniles allegedly assaulted a student following a verbal argument.
Three students were injured in the previous clash. One suffered a head injury, while two others had hand injuries. Police sources indicated that a knife was allegedly used during that confrontation as well. Authorities were not aware of what initially caused the earlier brawl.
Monday's Escalation
The simmering rivalry escalated again on Monday around 10:30 AM, shortly after school hours concluded. Police reported that a group of students confronted another student outside the school gate. They dragged him a short distance before attacking him with sticks and belts.
CCTV footage from nearby cameras showed several students surrounding the victim and assaulting him. One student allegedly brandished a knife during the attack. The injured student was later shifted to a hospital for medical care.
Family Allegations and School Response
The victim's sister alleged that the injuries were serious, particularly to the head. She accused the school of failing to provide proper first aid to her brother. "If his friend did not grab the knife, it could have turned into a murder," she said, demanding strict action against all those involved.
She further claimed that nearly 25 youths participated in the assault. This group reportedly included the elder brother of one of the students.
Police Investigation Details
A police officer stated, "On enquiry, it was found that students clashed outside the school gate. It appears to have begun as a minor quarrel." Police revealed that four of the students involved study at National School. Others were acquaintances from the neighborhood. One student's brother also allegedly joined the assault.
The students sustained various injuries:
- One injury to the head
- One injury to a finger
- Blunt injuries to both hands of another student
The incident has raised concerns about student safety and juvenile violence in the area.
