Delhi High Court Advocate Dies by Suicide at Connaught Place Hotel

In a tragic incident, a 26-year-old advocate practicing at the Delhi High Court allegedly died by suicide on Sunday evening. The event occurred at a four-star hotel located in central Delhi's Connaught Place, where the man jumped from the 15th floor, according to police reports.

Police Response and Initial Findings

Authorities received information about the incident at approximately 9:15 PM at the Connaught Place police station. Shortly after, around 9:20 PM, the Delhi Fire Service (DFS) was alerted and dispatched a fire tender to the location. A police team swiftly arrived at the hotel and identified the deceased as a resident of the Mohan Garden area in southwest Delhi. He was immediately transported to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.

DCP (New Delhi) Sachin Sharma provided details, stating that the man had checked into the hotel on Saturday around 6:30 PM. During the investigation, a senior police officer revealed that a suicide note was recovered from the hotel room, along with liquor bottles. The officer added that the man reportedly contacted a former girlfriend prior to the incident, who then alerted his family through a mutual friend.

Ongoing Investigation and Evidence Collection

Crime team officials and personnel from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) conducted a thorough inspection of the scene, collecting crucial evidence. Police are currently examining CCTV footage from the hotel premises and surrounding areas to piece together the events leading up to the tragedy.

Statements from the deceased's family members have been recorded, and so far, they have not raised any suspicions of foul play. Efforts are actively underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that prompted this distressing incident.

Hotel's Response and Similar Past Incident

When approached for comment, the four-star hotel did not respond to inquiries. This incident echoes a similar case reported in January of this year, where a 50-year-old property owner allegedly died by suicide after jumping from the 20th floor of another hotel in Connaught Place.

The police continue their investigation to understand the factors behind this latest tragedy, emphasizing the importance of mental health awareness and support systems in such sensitive matters.
