The Worli police in Central Mumbai recently arrested an assistant commissioner of police rank officer for allegedly flashing a nine-year-old girl at a garden in Worli. The accused was taken into custody and subsequently sent to judicial custody.
Details of the Incident
A police source revealed that the accused was arrested promptly after the complaint was filed. The officer stated, "The accused had flashed his private parts. The incident took place on April 23 and we arrested the accused." So far, only one complaint has been lodged against the accused police officer.
The accused is attached to the Wireless department at the DG office as a deputy superintendent of police. According to a police officer, "His family stays in Nagpur and he was posted in Mumbai last year. He has been staying at the police camp in Worli since he came to Mumbai."
Investigation and Evidence
The incident occurred in a public garden in Worli, where there are no CCTV cameras at the spot. Police are in the process of gathering evidence and have recorded the statement of the minor girl. The victim's mother works as a domestic help, and her family approached the police after learning about the crime.
Legal Charges
The accused has been booked for molestation and outraging the modesty of a woman under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) act, as well as punishment for sexual harassment under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) act. Further investigation is ongoing.
