Accused in Minor Girl Abduction Case Escapes from Buxar Police Lock-up

A man arrested for allegedly abducting a minor girl escaped from the lock-up at Buxar town police station on Monday morning. The incident has sparked outrage and protests from the victim's family, who accuse the police of serious security failures.

Background of the Case

The case involves a minor girl who was allegedly lured to Ludhiana in Punjab three months ago. Her family filed a First Information Report at the Town police station in Buxar at that time. However, they claim the police did not take timely action to rescue their daughter.

Frustrated by the delay, the family took matters into their own hands. They traced the accused on their own and then arranged for a police team from Buxar to travel to Punjab. The family bore all the expenses for this trip themselves.

Arrest and Escape

Police rescued the girl from Ludhiana and arrested the accused on Saturday. The accused is identified as Farhan, a resident of Khalasi Mohalla in Buxar. The police team returned to Buxar with Farhan late on Sunday night.

On Monday around 8 am, Farhan allegedly deceived the police officers. He pretended he needed to use the toilet and managed to flee from the lock-up. This escape occurred despite him being in police custody at the station.

Family Protests and Police Response

A family member of the victim stated that the escape exposes serious lapses in surveillance and security at the police station. Following the incident, the victim's family staged a sit-in protest at the main gate of the town police station.

They demanded the immediate re-arrest of Farhan. They also called for strict action against the police personnel responsible for the security lapse that allowed his escape.

Meanwhile, Town Police Station SHO Manoj Kumar Singh said raids are being conducted at possible hideouts of the accused. He assured the public that Farhan would be arrested soon.

The case highlights ongoing concerns about police efficiency and custodial security in handling sensitive abduction cases.
