Party spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that the BJP-led central government is misusing investigative agencies to harass opposition leaders. He added that Abhishek Banerjee has no connection with the alleged scam and that the raid is an attempt to tarnish his image.

Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court is hearing a petition filed by Sumit Roy's family seeking anticipatory bail. The court has asked the police to submit a detailed report on the case by the next hearing. The police have assured that they will take all necessary legal steps to apprehend the accused.
This is not the first time that Abhishek Banerjee has faced such actions. Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate had questioned him in connection with a coal smuggling case. The TMC leader has consistently maintained his innocence and accused the central agencies of targeting him for political reasons.
