In a major crackdown on New Year's Eve celebrations, the Delhi Traffic Police penalised hundreds of motorists for driving under the influence of alcohol. Officials confirmed on Thursday that a total of 868 challans were issued specifically for drunken driving during the night-long enforcement operation.

To curb reckless behaviour on the roads, special enforcement teams were strategically deployed across the national capital.
