Old Rivalry Leads to Fatal Attack in Kurukshetra Village
A tragic incident unfolded in Jogna Khera village of Kurukshetra district on Sunday, where a 65-year-old man was allegedly murdered over a long-standing rivalry. The victim, identified as Labh Singh, a resident of the same village, succumbed to injuries after being attacked with a spade by fellow villager Surjit Singh, aged 40.

Upon receiving information around 2:45 pm, a team from the Kurukshetra University (KU) police station swiftly arrived at the scene. They were accompanied by forensic and scene-of-crime teams to initiate a thorough investigation. The police confirmed that the altercation between Labh Singh and Surjit Singh escalated, resulting in the fatal attack.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of KU police station stated that accused Surjit Singh is currently on the run, and a murder case has been registered against him. "It appears to be a case of an old rivalry between the victim and the accused's family. The matter is being investigated. The exact reason will be ascertained after the arrest of the accused, Surjit," the SHO explained.

According to the SHO, the incident involved a fight in Jogna Khera village, where Surjit Singh attacked Labh Singh on the head with a spade, leading to his death. The police took the body into possession, and a post-mortem examination is scheduled for Monday to determine the exact cause of death and gather further evidence.
