In a significant crackdown, the Delhi Police Special Cell has apprehended five alleged shooters belonging to the notorious Arzoo and Anmol Bishnoi-Harry Boxer criminal syndicate. The individuals are wanted in connection with at least three high-profile murders, including that of a national-level kabaddi player and a former associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.
Key Arrests and Syndicate Operations
The arrests were made in two separate operations conducted on Tuesday. Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P S Kushwah identified the arrested men as Piyush Piplani (28) and Ankush Solanki (23) from Haryana, and Kunwarbir (30), Lovepreet Singh (26), and Santokh alias Kapil Khatri (31) from Punjab.
Police described the group as prominent members of a syndicate operated by Arzoo and Anmol Bishnoi-Harry Boxer from safe havens in Canada and the United States. This network had been targeting kabaddi players and businessmen for extortion, creating a major security challenge for police forces in Punjab and Haryana.
Links to Major Crimes and Gang Warfare
According to investigators, the arrested shooters were directly involved in several chilling murders. Piyush Piplani and Ankush Solanki were named as the main shooters in the killing of Inderpreet Singh alias Parry, a former friend of Lawrence Bishnoi, in Chandigarh's Sector 26 on December 1.
This murder is viewed as a direct outcome of the escalating gang war between the factions of Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar. The syndicate claimed Parry's killing was revenge for their member allegedly murdered by the Goldy Brar gang in the UAE in November.
The same duo, with Piyush as the lead shooter, was also involved in the murder of national-level kabaddi player Sonu Nolta in Panchkula, Haryana, on June 5. Meanwhile, Santokh (Kapil Khatri) was wanted for the September murder of Lion Bar and Restaurant owner Ashutosh Mahajan alias Ashu in Amritsar.
Modus Operandi and Police Recovery
Police revealed that the accused had assembled in Delhi with instructions to target individuals who had received extortion threats from the syndicate. Kunwarbir acted as the driver for the getaway car used in Parry's murder.
The arrests were made from two locations: near Shanti Van on Ring Road and near the Sarai Kale Khan bus stand. A substantial cache of weapons was seized from the accused.
"Four firearms and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered from them," stated Additional CP Kushwah. He added that Piyush, Ankush, and Kunwarbir are each facing six criminal cases related to murder, extortion, and violations of the Arms Act across multiple states.
The crackdown highlights the persistent threat posed by cross-border criminal networks and the ongoing violent turf wars between rival gangs in North India. The Delhi Police's operation has potentially thwarted another planned assassination by the syndicate.
