In a significant operation, the Special Operations Group (SOG) in Jamnagar has detained five individuals from Bangladesh for allegedly residing in India without any valid legal documents. The raid, conducted based on specific intelligence, has uncovered suspected fake Aadhaar cards and points to a possible organised network facilitating illegal entry.
Raids in Patel Colony Lead to Arrests
Acting on a confidential tip, SOG officials carried out a raid at a house located in Patel Colony. The property was owned by Gulammayuddin Abdulkarimkhan Gagdhani. During the search, the team found two men and three women living at the premises without proper authorization.
A preliminary check confirmed that none of the five possessed legitimate passports, visas, or any official permission from Indian authorities to be in the country. This confirmed their status as illegal entrants who had overstayed.
Identities Revealed and Fake Documents Uncovered
The arrested individuals have been identified as Shahbudin Mohammad Gaus Sheikh, Mahmadarif Muziber Sheikh, Jamila Begum Anardi Sheikh, Nazma Begum Abdulhakim Haulder, and Mursida Begum Mahmadarif Muziber Sheikh. They were subsequently handed over to the City B Division police station for further legal proceedings.
During interrogation, a startling discovery was made. Four of the detainees were found to be in possession of Aadhaar cards. Three of these identity documents were issued from addresses in Gujarat, while the fourth was from Maharashtra.
Police inquiries suggest that two of the women had been living in rented accommodation in Jamnagar for a considerable length of time. The third woman had reportedly arrived in the city only recently. The two men were also found to have been staying in Jamnagar for some time.
Police Probe Deeper into Racket Possibility
The discovery of the Aadhaar cards has widened the scope of the investigation. Jamnagar City Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Jayveersinh Zala stated that the police are actively investigating several critical angles.
"We are probing how these Aadhaar cards were obtained, who facilitated the process, and the duration of their stay in Jamnagar and other parts of Gujarat," DySP Zala told the media. The police are not ruling out the possibility of an organised racket that systematically facilitates illegal infiltration and provides fraudulent documentation to foreigners.
The case has highlighted concerns over illegal immigration and the potential misuse of national identity documents. The investigation is ongoing to uncover the entire network involved in this incident.
