Neighbor Mastermind Arrested in BSF Jawan Home Robbery Case
In a shocking case that highlights the vulnerability of defense personnel's families, Kishangarh police on Thursday arrested five individuals for allegedly robbing the home of a Border Security Force jawan while he was away serving at the border. The arrested include a neighbor who police describe as the mastermind behind the carefully planned robbery that left the jawan's wife unconscious after a brutal assault.
The Terrifying Afternoon Attack
The incident occurred on November 18 when 41-year-old Bhanwar Kanwar was alone in her kitchen at their Bajrang Colony residence. According to police reports, a man and woman forced their way into the house and dragged her to the bedroom at knifepoint. The assailants then subjected her to a merciless beating before ransacking the cupboards and fleeing with gold jewellery and cash, leaving the woman unconscious.
Massive CCTV Investigation Leads to Breakthrough
What followed was an intensive investigation that involved scrutiny of nearly 500 CCTV cameras from the area. Ajmer SP Vandita Rana revealed that the breakthrough came when investigators identified neighbor Mahendra Singh, 54, a man with a criminal history, as the prime suspect. "It emerged that he had been closely watching the family and knew that the BSF jawan was away on duty," stated SP Rana.
The investigation uncovered that Mahendra had recruited local accomplices Tej Partap Singh (26) and Ajay Paswan (31), and contacted Delhi-based Mohammad Ashique (30). Ashique arrived in Kishangarh with his wife Pooja Kumari (31) and stayed at a rented accommodation arranged by Mahendra. The couple conducted multiple reconnaissance trips before the actual robbery.
On the day of the crime, Ajay dropped Mohammad and Pooja near the jawan's house on a motorcycle. While Pooja collected the loot, Mohammad terrorized and assaulted Bhanwar Kanwar. The couple was then transported back to their hideout, where Mahendra and Tej Partap took possession of the stolen gold before Mohammad and Pooja immediately fled to Delhi.
District-Wide Crime Spree Prevented
Police teams subsequently arrested all five accused from different locations. Investigators revealed that the gang had begun planning similar heists across the district, making the timely arrests crucial in preventing further crimes against other families.
The case has highlighted the need for enhanced security measures for families of defense personnel serving in remote border areas, and demonstrated how modern surveillance technology combined with traditional police work can effectively combat organized crime.
