Bengaluru: Four people, including a couple and their two-year-old daughter, were killed in two separate accidents involving BMTC buses in the city and Hoskote since Thursday night.
First Accident in Hoskote
The couple and their minor daughter were killed on Devanahalli-Sulibele Main Road in Hoskote around 6pm Friday after a bus coming from Devanahalli collided with their motorbike. The couple's other daughter, five-year-old Anushika, is being treated at a hospital and her condition is stable, police said.
The victims are daily-wage workers Arun Kumar, 32, and Anusha, 28, and their daughter Arna. The family lived at Tallahalli in Devanahalli and were returning home from work in Sulibele when the accident took place.
Cops said they will go through footage of the camera fitted on the dashboard of the bus to check whether it was moving in the wrong lane.
"Arun was riding the bike while Anushika and Anusha were on the pillion. Arna was sitting on the petrol tank of the bike," a police officer said, adding the bus driver fled the scene, leaving behind the vehicle.
Traffic came to a standstill for around an hour due to the accident.
Second Accident in Jnanabharathi
In the second incident, a 57-year-old mason died after a rashly driven BMTC electric bus mowed him down at Manganahalli Cross, Jnanabharathi, Thursday night. The victim is Raju K, a resident of Ullala and from Maddur in Mandya district.
Police said the bus was coming from Kengeri. The driver, identified as Sachin, has been booked for causing death due to negligence.
