A tragic road accident in Uttar Pradesh's Bijnor district has claimed four lives, highlighting the deadly dangers of driving in dense winter fog. The fatal collision occurred late on Sunday night when an SUV travelling at high speed crashed into a stationary dumper truck.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The incident took place around 10:30 PM on Sunday in the Nangalsoti area of Bijnor. Police reported that visibility was near zero due to intense fog when the speeding SUV rammed into the rear of the parked dumper truck. The impact was so severe that it completely dismantled the front section of the SUV, trapping all four occupants inside the mangled wreckage.
Local residents, alerted by the loud sound of the crash, rushed to the spot. They worked alongside police officials to cut through the twisted metal and rescue the victims. All four were rushed to a local community health centre, but doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Victims Identified
The victims were returning home after attending a religious gathering. They have been identified as:
- Qari Iqbal, 75, an Islamic scholar who served as the keynote speaker at the event held in Rahatpur Khurd under the Mandawali police station limits.
- Salauddin, 26
- Mohammad Ashfaq, 65
- Ahtesham, 25
Police Investigation and Aftermath
Assistant Superintendent of Police Krishna Gopal Singh provided an update on the case on Monday. He stated that the bodies have been sent for autopsy and that legal proceedings are currently underway. The investigation will focus on the exact circumstances leading to the crash, including the speed of the vehicle and the prevailing road conditions.
