Tragedy Strikes Bengaluru Photoshoot Studio as Toddler Drowns in Pond
A routine maternity photoshoot visit turned into an unimaginable tragedy for a family from JP Nagar in Bengaluru. A three-year-old boy, Lakshveer C, drowned in a pond at a private studio in Giddenahalli, near Magadi Main Road, on Saturday afternoon. The heartbreaking incident has left the community in shock and raised questions about safety at recreational venues.
Details of the Fatal Incident
Lakshveer had accompanied his mother, Swathi, who is seven months pregnant, to The Shire Studio. This location is popular for maternity and pre-wedding photoshoots. According to police reports, the incident occurred around 2:30 PM. Swathi had gone to the studio with a pregnant friend who had booked the venue for her photoshoot session.
Swathi's husband, Charan Raj, a software engineer, had traveled to the United States for work approximately one week earlier. Before his departure, Swathi informed him that she was heading to the photoshoot and decided to take Lakshveer along with her.
How the Tragedy Unfolded
Investigators revealed that Swathi was occupied with the photoshoot activities while her young son was playing within the studio premises. The property features three small ponds, which are likely part of its aesthetic appeal. Police suspect that Lakshveer may have wandered towards one of these water bodies and accidentally slipped into the water.
When Swathi could not locate her son, she immediately began searching the premises. He was later discovered in one of the ponds. Studio staff quickly pulled him out and rushed him to a nearby hospital. Tragically, doctors declared the child dead on arrival.
Police Investigation and Findings
Police officials noted that the pond contained more than two feet of water. Lakshveer, who stood about three feet tall, may have been unable to regain his footing after falling in. Authorities speculate that he might have gotten stuck in the mud at the bottom of the pond, which could have prevented his escape.
A case of unnatural death has been registered at the Madanayakanahalli police station based on a complaint filed by Swathi's father, Ramesh Babu. Significantly, the complaint does not blame the studio management for the incident.
Aftermath and Family Situation
The child's body was handed over to the family after an autopsy was conducted at the Nelamangala government hospital on Sunday. Police have informed Charan Raj about the tragedy, and he is returning to Bengaluru from the United States.
Officers added that the grandparents were in a state of profound shock and could not provide detailed statements immediately following the incident. Swathi has requested time to compose herself before appearing before the police to record her official statement.
This devastating event serves as a stark reminder of the importance of constant supervision around water bodies, especially when young children are present. The family's grief is compounded by the fact that Swathi is expecting another child, making this loss particularly poignant during what should have been a joyful period of anticipation.
