Tragic Collision Claims Lives of Migrant Workers
A devastating road accident in the early hours of Monday resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left fourteen others injured. The incident occurred near Indaram village in Telangana's Mancherial district when a loaded truck violently collided with a stationary pickup van.
Details of the Fatal Crash
According to police reports, the victims were part of a group of 22 farm labourers from Maharashtra's Chandrapur district. They were travelling in the pickup van to reach Sultanabad in Peddapalli district, where they had secured work in paddy fields. The journey took a tragic turn at approximately 3:30 am on the Jaipur-Godavarikhani route.
The van driver had pulled over to the roadside to answer nature's call. "The pickup van driver slowed down and pulled the vehicle to the roadside, with the indicators on," explained Jaipur Sub-Inspector J Sridhar. Despite this, the driver of a coal-laden truck failed to reduce speed and crashed into the van from behind with tremendous force.
The impact was severe, causing the van to veer off the road into nearby bushes. Seventeen of the 22 workers sustained injuries in the collision. Alerted by local residents, police and emergency services rushed to the scene and transported the injured to a nearby hospital using ambulances.
Victims and Aftermath
Tragically, one labourer died instantly at the spot. Two more succumbed to their injuries while receiving medical treatment. The deceased have been identified as Mina Anil Latelwar (45) and Imilibai Sayyam (45), both from Chandlibuj village, and Neelu Bau Manre (60), a resident of Nagala village in Maharashtra.
Among the fourteen surviving injured, two suffered leg fractures. Authorities have confirmed that all the injured are now out of danger and receiving necessary care. A preliminary police investigation has concluded that rash and negligent driving by the truck driver was the direct cause of the accident.
Following the crash, the truck driver allegedly fled the scene. However, law enforcement officials later tracked him down and took him into custody at Godavarikhani. The case is under further investigation as authorities examine all aspects of the tragic event that has left multiple families grieving.
