The car, which was reportedly speeding at the time, could not be controlled in time. It crashed violently into the rear of the truck.
The impact of the collision was severe, completely mangling the vehicle and trapping the occupants inside. Bystanders and onlookers rushed to the scene and made frantic efforts to pull the victims out of the wreckage before official help could arrive.

Sub-inspector Jaspreet Singh from the Sahnewal police station provided details of the family's itinerary. He confirmed that the family had organised their daughter's marriage in Ludhiana on Sunday. "They were returning to Sirhind after the ceremony when the accident happened. The truck driver fled the spot immediately after the crash," stated the officer.
Police Investigation Underway
The Sahnewal police have registered a formal case in connection with the fatal accident on the Ludhiana-Delhi National Highway. A search operation has been launched to trace and apprehend the absconding truck driver, who left the scene. The investigation will focus on determining the exact cause of the sudden braking by the truck and the speed of the car.
This tragic event highlights the persistent dangers on India's busy national highways, especially following long family events where fatigue can be a factor. It serves as a grim reminder for all drivers to maintain safe speeds, keep a safe distance, and remain extra vigilant during long journeys.
