In a significant crackdown, the Mumbai Police have successfully apprehended three individuals linked to a series of eight burglaries that targeted homes and shops in Dahisar during a single night last month. The arrests came after an intensive investigation spanning nearly 30 hours.
The Crime Spree and Arrests
The accused executed a coordinated crime wave, breaking into multiple residences and commercial establishments in the Dahisar area. Police reports indicate that the gang's method involved smashing door locks to gain entry. The total cash stolen from all eight locations amounted to approximately Rs 13,000 collectively.
Following the incidents, the Dahisar police station sprang into action, forming multiple specialised teams to track down the perpetrators. Their relentless efforts over nearly 30 hours led to the identification and capture of the three suspects.
A Notorious Criminal History
Investigations revealed a troubling pattern for one of the arrested individuals. The key accused has been identified as Moinuddin Shaikh, whose criminal record is alarmingly extensive. Police records show that Shaikh has a history of 40 prior criminal offences, marking him as a habitual offender.
Invoking Stricter Laws
Given the organised nature of the crimes and the profile of the accused, the police are planning to take a stringent legal approach. Authorities have stated their intention to invoke provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) that deal specifically with organised criminal activity. This move signals a tougher stance against such serial offences.
