19-Year-Old Woman Fatally Shot in Govandi; Four Suspects Apprehended by Police
The Shivaji Nagar police in Mumbai have made a significant breakthrough in a tragic murder case, arresting four individuals, including a woman, for the alleged shooting death of a 19-year-old woman in the Govandi area. The incident, which has sent shockwaves through the community, occurred on Tuesday in the Furqania Masjid locality of Shivaji Nagar.
Details of the Arrested Accused and the Victim
The arrested accused have been identified as Tabassum Shaikh, her brother Shajid Shaikh, Kalam Chaudhary, and Nadeem Shaikh. All are residents of Govandi and were produced in court on Wednesday, where they were remanded in police custody until February 18 to facilitate further investigation. The victim, Shifa Shaikh, aged 19, lived in Shivaji Nagar with her parents and had studied up to class 10. Her father is involved in the construction business.
Sequence of Events Leading to the Tragic Incident
According to police reports, the incident unfolded when Shifa Shaikh left her residence after being called to meet Tabassum Shaikh nearby. During the investigation, authorities learned that Tabassum was allegedly in a relationship with Nadeem Shaikh. In a disturbing twist, Nadeem was also reportedly involved with Shifa Shaikh in recent months. This led to an argument between Shifa and Tabassum, culminating in Tabassum allegedly shooting Shifa at point-blank range in the cheek. The bullet became lodged in her skull, resulting in her immediate death.
At the time of the shooting, Kalam Chaudhary and Shajid Shaikh were present at the scene. The duo allegedly assisted in moving the body a short distance away from the crime location. The victim's family was promptly informed and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was declared dead. Her body was subsequently sent to JJ Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The Shivaji Nagar police station has registered a murder case and is actively investigating the matter. Officers are questioning the accused to determine the source of the pistol used in the crime.
