The Ludhiana police have registered a case against twelve individuals following a brazen incident of firing in the city's Swatantra Nagar locality. The accused allegedly fired multiple gunshots outside a residence, creating panic in the area. One person has been arrested in connection with the case, while the search for the others is ongoing.
Sequence of Events: From Clinic Attack to Gunfire
According to police sources, the chain of events began earlier when the same group of miscreants targeted a doctor's clinic in Grewal Colony. The doctor reported that several injured youths came to his clinic but were indecisive about receiving treatment, mentioning the civil hospital as an alternative. When the doctor asked them to make a firm decision, the group allegedly turned violent, attacking the clinic and pelting stones.
Later, the focus shifted to Swatantra Nagar. The accused arrived outside the house of a man named Tony and were inquiring about his whereabouts. It was here that they reportedly fired 5 to 6 gunshots. Fortunately, no injuries were reported from this shooting incident. Alerted by locals, a police team from the Tibba police station rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation.
Police Action and Ongoing Probe
The police have swiftly taken action by booking the accused under relevant sections of the law. The individuals named in the First Information Report (FIR) are Ajaydeep Singh, Gurjot Singh, Nirmal Singh, Karan, Sagar, Jassi, Harsh, Machhi, Nikhil Billa, Raja, Manna, and Rohit. Additionally, two to three unidentified persons have also been booked.
A police official present at the scene stated that no weapons or recoveries have been made from the accused so far. The probe is actively underway to determine the motive behind the firing and to trace all the individuals involved. The connection between the earlier clinic attack and the Swatantra Nagar incident is a key line of inquiry for the investigating officers.
Community Concern and Law & Order
This incident has raised concerns among residents about law and order in the area. The audacity of firing in a residential neighborhood, following an attack on a medical professional, points to a worrying trend. The Ludhiana police's prompt response in registering the case and making an arrest is a step towards restoring public confidence. The community now awaits the swift apprehension of the remaining accused and a thorough investigation to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
