In a decisive move to curb public nuisance, the Lucknow Police launched a significant crackdown on Friday night, targeting individuals consuming alcohol on streets and in other open spaces. The operation resulted in challans being issued to 1,171 violators across the city.

Massive City-Wide Checks Conducted

The police action was extensive and well-coordinated. Teams led by Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) and Station House Officers (SHOs) from all zones fanned out across the state capital. They conducted thorough checks at a total of 195 different locations. These spots were strategically chosen and included major roads, public parks, bustling market areas, bus stands, key intersections, and other crowded places known for such activities.

Zone-Wise Breakdown of the Drive

During the campaign, police personnel screened 3,657 individuals. Out of these, the 1,171 who were found flouting the rules by drinking in public were promptly penalized. An analysis of the zone-wise data revealed that the Western Zone of Lucknow saw the maximum number of prosecutions, indicating a focused effort or higher incidence of violations in that region.

Police Appeal and Warning

The Lucknow Police have made a clear appeal to citizens, urging them to avoid consuming alcohol in public places. Authorities emphasized that such behavior is not just a legal violation but also disrupts the peaceful social environment, causing discomfort to families, women, and other citizens. The police statement was unequivocal: strict legal action will continue to be taken against anyone found violating these norms. The Friday night drive serves as a strong warning that similar enforcement campaigns will be a regular feature to ensure public order and decency in the city.
