UP Holds Camps in Lucknow for Construction Worker Welfare

UP Government Launches Doorstep Welfare Drive for Construction Workers in Lucknow

The Uttar Pradesh government took a significant step on Wednesday to enhance social security for construction workers. It organized special awareness and registration camps at three key labour hubs in Lucknow. These locations included Mohanlalganj, Buddheshwar, and Barabirwa in the Aashiana area.

Boosting Welfare Access Through On-Spot Registration

The Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board spearheaded the initiative. Its primary goal was to publicize various welfare schemes for registered workers. The camps also facilitated immediate registration and renewal processes right at the workers' doorsteps.

Under the direct guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government has made worker welfare a top priority. The focus is on improving living standards, ensuring education for children, providing health protection, and promoting social dignity for these labourers.

Key Schemes Highlighted for Construction Workers

During the camps, officials provided detailed information about multiple assistance programs. Workers learned about schemes designed to support them and their families. These included:

  • Kanya Vivah Sahayta Yojana for marriage assistance
  • Matritva for maternity benefits
  • Shishu Evam Baalika Madad Yojana for child support
  • Sant Ravidas Education Promotion Scheme
  • Nirmaan Kamgar Mrtyu Va Divyangta Sahayta Yojana for death and disability aid
  • Atal Residential School Scheme for quality education

Eligible workers received on-the-spot registration. This immediate action enables them to access benefits without delay.

Special Emphasis on Atal Residential School Admissions

A particular highlight was the push for admissions under the Atal Residential School Scheme. Officials encouraged applications for Classes 6 and 9 for the 2026-27 academic session. Workers with at least three years of registration under the board were strongly urged to apply for their children.

Collaborative Effort with Support Agencies

The camps were organized with active support from the Vigyan Foundation and other implementing agencies. Labour enforcement officers Shakti Rai, Santosh Kumar, and Sunil Kumar were present to assist workers and ensure smooth operations.

Additional Labour Commissioner for the Lucknow region, Kalpana Srivastava, emphasized the importance of registration. She stated, "Registration with the board and timely renewal are mandatory to avail benefits."

Srivastava also outlined the available channels for workers. They can register or renew their membership through CSC e-District Centres, CSC e-Governance Centres, or the board's official website at upbocw.in.

This proactive approach aims to bridge the gap between welfare schemes and the intended beneficiaries. It ensures construction workers in Lucknow can easily access the support they deserve.
