Rajasthan Chief Minister Unveils Comprehensive Anganwadi Strengthening Plan

In a significant move aimed at bolstering early childhood care and support systems, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma on Monday announced a comprehensive plan to strengthen anganwadi centers across the state. The initiative focuses on enhancing service delivery, providing robust support to workers, and improving early childhood care infrastructure.

Direct Financial Support for Anganwadi Workers

As a cornerstone of this ambitious plan, Chief Minister Sharma transferred Rs 1,000 each via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to over 1.22 lakh anganwadi workers and helpers. This financial assistance is specifically designated for purchasing two uniforms, ensuring that frontline workers have proper attire while performing their crucial duties.

The announcement was made during a program held at the Chief Minister's official residence, where Sharma emphasized the government's commitment to supporting those who form the backbone of early childhood development programs.

Annual Activity Calendar and Expanded Benefits

During the same event, CM Sharma released an annual activity calendar specifically designed for anganwadi centers. This comprehensive calendar outlines year-round interventions aimed at strengthening three critical areas: nutrition programs, health monitoring systems, and pre-school education initiatives.

The Chief Minister also distributed benefits to numerous beneficiaries under several key welfare schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Lado Protsahan Yojana, and Kalibai Bheel Yojana, demonstrating a holistic approach to social welfare.

Recognition of Anganwadi Workers' National Role

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sharma highlighted the indispensable role that anganwadi workers play in nation-building. "Anganwadi workers take care of our young children and are strengthening the foundation of the future generation. They are playing a vital role in nation-building," he stated emphatically.

Sharma elaborated on recent governmental efforts to support these essential workers, noting that over the past two years, several strategic decisions have been implemented to strengthen anganwadi centers across Rajasthan.

Substantial Honorarium Increase Announced

One of the most significant announcements came regarding financial compensation for anganwadi personnel. "Our government has approved a 10% increase in honorarium for anganwadi workers, helpers, mid-day meal cooks, and other honorarium-based staff," Sharma revealed.

This substantial raise, which will become effective from April 1, 2026, represents a meaningful investment in the workforce that manages early childhood development programs throughout the state.

Nutrition and Infrastructure Enhancements

The Chief Minister also detailed ongoing nutritional and infrastructure improvements under the plan. Under the Amrit Aahar scheme, children aged three to six years are now receiving hot milk five days a week at anganwadi centers, providing essential nutrition to support their growth and development.

Simultaneously, repair and strengthening work is actively underway at numerous anganwadi centers across Rajasthan, ensuring that facilities are safe, functional, and conducive to effective early childhood education and care.

This multi-faceted approach—combining financial support for workers, structured programming through the annual calendar, nutritional enhancements, and infrastructure improvements—demonstrates the Rajasthan government's comprehensive strategy to revitalize its anganwadi system and strengthen the foundation of early childhood development across the state.
