Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday announced that eligible women across the state will begin receiving financial assistance under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna from July 1. This scheme aims to provide monetary support to women, with a special focus on those from Scheduled Caste communities.
Key Details of the Scheme
Under the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojna, every eligible woman in Punjab will receive Rs 1,000 per month. Women belonging to the Scheduled Caste category will receive a higher amount of Rs 1,500 per month. The initiative is part of the state government's efforts to empower women financially.
Registration and Implementation
Chief Minister Mann informed that around two lakh Mahila Satkar Sakhis have been assigned the responsibility of registering eligible beneficiaries. Registrations are being carried out through Anganwadi Centres, Sewa Kendras, and other locations specially designated by Deputy Commissioners in their respective districts.
Funds will be directly transferred to the beneficiaries' bank accounts. Women who are already receiving social security pensions will also be eligible under this scheme. Around 97% of women in Punjab are expected to benefit from this initiative. The Punjab government has allocated Rs 9,300 crore in the budget for its implementation.
This announcement is expected to provide significant relief to women across the state, particularly those from economically weaker sections. The scheme underscores the government's commitment to social welfare and financial inclusion.
