In a significant development for spiritual tourism in Punjab, Revenue Minister Hardeep Singh Mundian personally flagged off a bus carrying devotees from Kasabad village in Ludhiana on Wednesday. This ceremonial departure marks the latest implementation of the state government's ambitious Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Scheme, designed to eliminate financial and logistical barriers preventing citizens from undertaking important religious journeys.
Complete Government Subsidy for Dignified Pilgrimage Experience
Addressing the pilgrims before their departure, Minister Mundian emphasized the completely cost-free nature of the initiative. The Punjab government has committed to covering 100% of all expenses, ensuring participants face no financial burden whatsoever. This comprehensive subsidy includes:
- Air-conditioned transportation throughout the journey
- Hotel accommodations at all destinations
- All meals during the pilgrimage period
Furthermore, each bus is equipped with specialized support staff including a dedicated attendant to assist elderly passengers and a medical team prepared to handle any health emergencies that may arise during transit.
Comprehensive Itinerary Covering Major Religious and Historical Sites
The current group of pilgrims from Kasabad village is scheduled to visit an extensive selection of religious and historical landmarks in Amritsar, including:

- The Partition Museum documenting India's history

While this particular bus is destined for Amritsar, the Mukh Mantri Tirath Yatra Scheme encompasses several other significant spiritual destinations. The program already covers pilgrimages to Sri Anandpur Sahib and Mata Naina Devi in Himachal Pradesh.
Looking toward future expansion, the state government has revealed ongoing discussions with the Ministry of Railways to extend the yatra to more distant destinations. These potential additions include Sri Hazoor Sahib and the holy city of Varanasi, which would be accessed through specially arranged train services.
