Punjab Minister Announces Major Infrastructure Push for Sri Anandpur Sahib
In a significant development for the region, Punjab Education Minister and MLA from Sri Anandpur Sahib, Harjot Singh Bains, has announced the approval of multiple infrastructure projects aimed at transforming connectivity and economic prospects in the Ropar district constituency.
Five Crucial Bridges Approved by BBMB
Through a video message released on Monday, Minister Bains congratulated the residents of Sri Anandpur Sahib and revealed that the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has approved five critical bridge projects. "A development storm is blowing in Sri Anandpur Sahib," declared Bains, emphasizing the transformative nature of these initiatives.
The approved bridge projects include:
- Brahmpur and Daroli Bridges: Two replacement bridges originally constructed during canal development that will be completely rebuilt to meet contemporary standards and traffic demands.
- Ganguwal Double Bridge: A strategic project specifically designed to alleviate persistent traffic congestion, particularly during major religious gatherings such as Hola Mohalla and Viah Purb at Guru Ka Lahore. "This will ensure smooth passage for devotees traveling to Guru Ka Lahore, eliminating a major hassle," explained Bains.
- Attari Village Bridge: This bridge will directly connect Attari village to the national highway, eliminating lengthy detours and expected to significantly boost local economic activity.
- Bhaowal Bridge: Anticipated to generate employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth in its surrounding area.
Road Projects and Implementation Timeline
In addition to the bridge approvals, Minister Bains announced two major road development projects:
- Nangal to Kalma Mod Road: To be constructed at a cost of Rs 10 crore with specifications to withstand heavy industrial traffic.
- Bhanglan to Kanpur Khuhi Road: A Rs 12.5 crore project aimed at improving bus connectivity and addressing chronic water-logging issues in the Khera Kalmot area.
The minister confirmed that work on both road projects is scheduled to commence within the next two weeks. Furthermore, he noted that the Sarsa Nangal Bridge project has already been tendered, with construction expected to begin around April 14.
Transformative Impact on the Region
Harjot Singh Bains emphasized that these infrastructure developments extend beyond mere construction projects. "These projects are about transforming lives, not just infrastructure," he stated, highlighting their potential to enhance quality of life, facilitate religious tourism, and create economic opportunities for local communities.
The comprehensive infrastructure package addresses multiple pain points in the constituency—from traffic bottlenecks during festivals to inadequate rural connectivity—positioning Sri Anandpur Sahib for improved accessibility and economic vitality in the coming years.
