The Finance Ministry officially launched the Paripoorna Mediclaim Ayush Bima on January 14, 2026. This new health insurance plan provides optional coverage for all beneficiaries of the Central Government Health Scheme.
Key Features of the Insurance Plan
The policy offers indemnity-based in-patient hospitalisation coverage across India. Beneficiaries can choose between two sum insured options: ₹10 lakh or ₹20 lakh.
Flexible Co-Payment Structure
Policyholders enjoy significant flexibility with co-payment choices. They can select either a 70:30 or 50:50 co-sharing arrangement between the insurance company and themselves.
Premium discounts make this plan particularly attractive. Compared to regular policies, the 70:30 co-sharing option comes with a 28 percent discount. The 50:50 option offers an even larger discount of 42 percent.
Comprehensive Coverage Details
State-run New India Assurance will provide this insurance product. The plan includes specific room rent caps: 1 percent of the sum insured per day for normal rooms and 2 percent for ICU accommodations.
Additional benefits enhance the policy's value. A cumulative bonus of 10 percent accumulates for every claim-free year, reaching up to 100 percent of the sum insured. Coverage extends to 30 days before hospitalisation and 60 days after treatment.
Complementing Existing Benefits
The Finance Ministry designed this scheme to complement current CGHS benefits. Officials stated the enhanced policy delivers a seamless experience with greater flexibility.
Expanded access to quality healthcare services across India represents a core objective. The initiative aims to provide additional financial security with ease and confidence for all CGHS beneficiaries.
Additional Financial Initiative
Alongside the health insurance launch, the Department of Financial Services introduced a Composite Salary Account Package. This unified salary account framework partners with public sector banks.
The package offers central government employees a one-stop financial solution. It integrates banking and insurance benefits through a single-window approach.
This initiative ensures that central government employees, who form the backbone of public administration, gain access to modern banking services. Comprehensive financial protection becomes more accessible through this streamlined solution.
