Mizoram Farmers Receive Rs 23.55 Crore in PM-Kisan Aid

Massive Financial Boost for Mizoram's Farmers

In a significant development for the agricultural sector of Northeast India, a total of 1,17,786 farmers from Mizoram received a substantial financial infusion on Wednesday. The funds were disbursed through the 21st instalment of the PM-Kisan Scheme, marking a continued commitment to supporting India's farming community since the scheme's inception in 2019.

Direct Benefit Transfer Empowers Farmers

The financial aid, amounting to a staggering over Rs 23.55 crore, was transferred directly to the beneficiaries' bank accounts via the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mechanism. This ensures transparency and eliminates delays, allowing farmers immediate access to the funds. The release was part of a nationwide event where Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed the instalment from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, reaching over 9 crore farmers across the country.

In Mizoram, the state-level event was coordinated through a video conference. The programme was joined by key officials including R Lalnunzira, the Director of State Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare. Also in attendance were Special Secretary Ramdinliani, officials from the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), and a large number of farmers who are beneficiaries of the scheme.

Sustained Support Through the PM-Kisan Scheme

The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme is a central government initiative that provides income support to all landholding farmer families. Under the scheme, each registered farmer receives Rs 6,000 every financial year. This amount is distributed in three equal instalments of Rs 2,000 each, directly into their bank accounts. The financial assistance is intended to help farmers cover expenses related to agriculture and allied activities, as well as domestic needs.

This latest fund release underscores the government's ongoing efforts to strengthen the agricultural backbone of states like Mizoram. The direct transfer of such a significant sum is expected to provide immediate relief and support to the farming families in the state, boosting the rural economy and enhancing livelihood security.
