In a significant move aimed at strengthening the economic security of beekeepers, the Haryana government has announced a protected minimum price for honey. This initiative, launched under the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana, is designed to shield honey producers from volatile market fluctuations and ensure they receive a fair value for their produce.
Fixed Price and Farmer-Friendly Approach
State Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Minister, Shyam Singh Rana, revealed that the government has set the protected price for honey at Rs 120 per kilogram. He emphasized that this decision underscores the administration's farmer-centric policies and its dedication to encouraging allied agricultural activities. "This provides relief to beekeepers from market price fluctuations and ensures a fair price for their produce," Minister Rana stated.
He highlighted the dual benefits of beekeeping, noting it serves as a crucial supplementary income stream for farmers. Beyond boosting earnings, beekeeping is vital for enhancing crop productivity through pollination. "The Haryana government is continuously working to promote agricultural diversification, and fixing a protected price for honey is a historic step in the interest of beekeepers," the minister added.
Registration Process and Eligibility Details
The scheme's implementation will be facilitated through dedicated online portals. Beekeepers must register and get verified via the Madhukranti Portal (madhukranti.in) or the Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana (honey) portal hosted at hortharyana.gov.in. The window for registration is currently open and will remain active until June 30, 2026.
To be eligible for the scheme's benefits, verification within Haryana's geographical limits is mandatory. The government will authenticate beneficiaries using their Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) and bank account details. Minister Rana assured that authorized officers are conducting this process with complete transparency to guarantee that only genuine beekeepers receive the support.
A Step Towards Doubling Farmers' Income
This initiative aligns with the broader national objective of doubling farmers' income. By providing a price safety net, the government hopes to motivate more youth and existing farmers to adopt beekeeping as a sustainable and profitable venture. The minister made a fervent appeal to all beekeepers in Haryana to complete their registration within the stipulated timeframe to avail the full benefits of this supportive scheme.
