Gorakhpur, a city renowned for its strategic location in Uttar Pradesh, is poised to set a new standard in urban road infrastructure with the completion of two major projects. Already well-connected through an extensive network of four-lane roads spanning its core and peripheral zones, the city is now taking a significant leap forward to alleviate traffic congestion and improve mobility.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to Inaugurate Key Infrastructure Projects
On Tuesday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will officially inaugurate a new rail overbridge (ROB) at Bargadwa and a flyover at Khajanchi Chowk. This move follows his earlier inauguration of the Gorakhnath rail overbridge on December 19, underscoring the government's ongoing commitment to enhancing Gorakhpur's transportation framework.
Bargadwa Rail Overbridge: A Rs 152.19 Crore Investment
The Bargadwa ROB, situated at level crossing No-5A between Nakaha Jungle and Maniram stations on Jail Road, represents a substantial infrastructure investment. Constructed at a cost of Rs 152.19 crore, this 1,092-metre-long structure is designed to eliminate the persistent traffic bottlenecks caused by frequent closures of the railway gate.
By significantly improving connectivity in the northern part of Gorakhpur, the ROB will facilitate smoother and more efficient travel, particularly towards Maharajganj via the medical college route. This project is expected to transform daily commutes for residents and reduce travel time substantially.
Khajanchi Flyover: Enhancing Direct Connectivity
From the same inauguration venue, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also launch the 605-metre-long Khajanchi flyover, built with an investment of Rs 96.50 crore. This flyover provides direct and seamless connectivity between Jail Bypass and Sports College Road.
It aims to ease travel from Kauwabagh through Khajanchi Chowk to key destinations such as the Fertiliser Factory and Sonouli Road. The flyover is anticipated to streamline traffic flow, reduce congestion at major intersections, and enhance overall road safety in the area.
Impact on Gorakhpur's Urban Development
The inauguration of these projects marks a pivotal moment in Gorakhpur's urban development journey. By addressing critical traffic pain points, the new ROB and flyover are set to boost economic activity, improve accessibility to essential services, and elevate the quality of life for the city's inhabitants.
These initiatives align with broader efforts to modernize Gorakhpur's infrastructure, supporting its growth as a key regional hub in Uttar Pradesh. Residents and commuters can look forward to more reliable and efficient transportation options, contributing to a smoother and more connected urban experience.
