In a remarkable testament to resilience and government support, two women from Gorakhpur have emerged as shining examples of self-reliance and empowerment. Mansha Devi and Rajkumari Devi, once facing economic hardships, have now been recognized as inspiring 'Lakhpati Didis,' with their success stories set to gain national spotlight at the Republic Day parade in New Delhi.
National Recognition for Local Heroes
According to district magistrate Deepak Meena, both women have been invited as special guests to the prestigious Republic Day celebrations. They are among fourteen Lakhpati Didis from Uttar Pradesh selected for this honor, with Gorakhpur proudly contributing two representatives to this distinguished group.
Mansha Devi: Driving Change Through E-Rickshaws
Hailing from Harpur village in Brahmpur block, Mansha Devi's journey began with severe financial challenges. Determined to change her circumstances, she accessed a Rs 1.25 lakh loan under the Mudra Yojana and launched an e-rickshaw enterprise through the Self Mobility Programme.
Her initiative didn't stop at personal success. Mansha Devi extended her impact by training other women to pursue similar entrepreneurial paths. Today, she earns approximately Rs 20,000 monthly and has become a beacon of inspiration for women seeking self-employment opportunities in her community.
Rajkumari Devi: From Homemaker to Dairy Director
Rajkumari Devi, residing in Rakhi village within the Campierganj area, experienced a dramatic transformation in her life. As a homemaker facing limited prospects, her fortunes changed when she joined the Shri Baba Gorakhnath Kripa Milk Producer Organisation in February 2025.
This initiative, championed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, provided the platform for her remarkable growth. Starting with just one buffalo, Rajkumari gradually expanded her dairy business to include two cows and four buffaloes. She now sells 25 to 30 litres of milk daily, achieving the status of a Lakhpati Didi.
Her success has been so significant that she has been appointed as a director within the organisation, serving as a powerful role model for rural women aspiring to economic independence.
The Double-Engine Government Effect
The transformation of these two women highlights the impact of coordinated government support at both state and central levels. Their stories demonstrate how strategic utilization of government schemes can create sustainable livelihoods and foster women's empowerment.
Both Mansha Devi and Rajkumari Devi leveraged available programs to build successful enterprises, proving that with determination and proper support, economic self-sufficiency is achievable even in challenging circumstances.
As they prepare to attend the Republic Day parade, their journeys stand as powerful narratives of how individual resolve combined with government initiatives can create lasting change and inspire communities across the nation.
