Goa Government Enhances Rural Development Scheme with Increased Funding
The Goa government has announced a significant enhancement to the Goa Gram Samruddhi Yojana (GGSY), with plans to execute priority development projects across all 40 assembly constituencies. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has directed that funding for the scheme be increased to ensure comprehensive rural infrastructure development.
Comprehensive Review of Project Proposals
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant recently chaired a detailed review meeting examining 131 project proposals submitted under the Goa Gram Samruddhi Yojana by the Department of Rural Development. The comprehensive assessment aimed to guarantee that developmental benefits reach every corner of the state.
Sawant emphasized that the review was conducted to ensure equitable distribution of development projects, stating that the government is committed to bringing progress to all communities in Goa.
Equal Project Allocation Across Constituencies
The chief minister issued clear directives to the Department of Rural Development, mandating that equal allocation of projects must be executed in each and every constituency. This strategic approach ensures balanced regional development and addresses local infrastructure needs systematically.
"Priority will be given to works recommended by MLAs from all 40 assembly constituencies, ensuring that at least one project is executed in every constituency under the scheme," Sawant affirmed during the review meeting.
Enhanced Financial Support for Infrastructure Development
The government has decided to substantially increase financial support for the Goa Gram Samruddhi Yojana. Additional funds will be provided over and above the existing Rs 20 crore allocation in the upcoming financial year.
This enhanced funding will enable effective implementation of various public infrastructure and community development works proposed under the scheme. The increased budget reflects the government's commitment to accelerating rural development initiatives throughout Goa.
Priority Projects Under the Scheme
Under the enhanced Goa Gram Samruddhi Yojana, each constituency will see the execution of priority development works as recommended by their respective MLAs. The scheme focuses on essential community infrastructure projects including:
- Crematorium construction and improvement
- Community hall development
- Small footpath works and pedestrian infrastructure
These projects represent fundamental community needs that will directly improve quality of life for residents across Goa's rural areas. The government's approach ensures that development reaches even the most remote constituencies, addressing long-standing infrastructure gaps.
The Goa Gram Samruddhi Yojana enhancement demonstrates the state government's proactive approach to rural development, with increased funding and systematic project allocation designed to create lasting infrastructure improvements across all 40 assembly constituencies.
