Patna: Thousands of female students who have passed their bachelor's degree examinations from various universities in Bihar during the last academic session are likely to be deprived of the state government's incentive of Rs 50,000 due to alleged indifference by university authorities. Despite repeated instructions from the state higher education department, several universities have failed to upload the data of female graduates onto the designated portal, even as the deadline for uploading is May 30.
Delayed Data Upload on Samarth Portal
Sources indicate that the uploading of female graduate data from all 17 universities on the Samarth portal is behind schedule, despite strict deadlines being issued. Governor-cum-Chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain has repeatedly directed vice-chancellors to implement all modules of the Samarth portal at the earliest, emphasizing the importance for students.
Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana
The higher education department has notified that all female students who passed their graduation examinations from state universities up to December 2025 are entitled to receive Rs 50,000 each as an incentive under the 'Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana'. Official estimates suggest that over 1.5 lakh female graduates are eligible for this incentive. However, many may be deprived because their universities have not uploaded the required data.
Higher Education Director Navin Kumar Agrawal stated that delayed uploads directly impact the processing of graduation scholarships, causing longer wait times for students applying for schemes like the Rs 50,000 incentive. Registrars and examination controllers of various universities have been instructed to upload results of all examinations published up to December last year and details of eligible female graduates on the Samarth portal within the stipulated period. This would ensure timely processing and deposit of the incentive money into beneficiaries' accounts. However, Agrawal regretted that many universities have not yet complied.
Universities Covered Under the Scheme
Universities to be covered include Patna University, Patliputra University, B N Mandal University, BRA Bihar University, Jaya Prakash University, L N Mithila University, Munger University, Purnia University, T M Bhagalpur University, Veer Kuar Singh University, KSD Sanskrit University, Magadh University, Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabic and Persian University, Nalanda Open University, Aryabhatta Knowledge University, Chanakya National Law University, and Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna.
This delay puts at risk the financial benefit intended to support female graduates in their further education or career pursuits.
