Ganga Expressway Poised to Revolutionize Travel in Uttar Pradesh with April 29 Inauguration
In a landmark development for India's infrastructure landscape, the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has announced that the 594-kilometer-long Ganga Expressway will be formally inaugurated for public use on April 29, 2026. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead the inauguration ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the state's connectivity and economic growth.
Dramatic Reduction in Travel Time Between Key Cities
Once operational, the expressway is expected to drastically cut travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj. Currently, the journey takes approximately 10 to 12 hours, but with the new expressway designed for speeds of up to 120 kmph, it will be reduced to around 6 to 7 hours. The Ganga Expressway has been constructed as a six-lane road, with provisions for future expansion to eight lanes based on traffic demand.
